Yes, we create daily backups of all websites hosted with WPX. Those backups are securely kept on a separate server for 28 days.
In order to keep the risks of slowing down daily backup and recovery and with an overabundance of caution, the WPX Systems Architecture team introduced the following changes to the backup policy:
- Backups will process only files in native WordPress folders (e.g. root folder, wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-plugins);
- Backups will skip files carrying standard extensions for archives (tar, tar.gz, tar.bz2, zip, 7z, and rar);
- Backups will skip archives created by backup plugins installed by the user, regardless of the archive file extension.
How can I access the daily backups?
You can access the automatic system backups we create at any time and restore them as you see fit. Those backups can be restored from your WPX control panel under the Backups menu.
Can I download the automatic backups?
The automatic backups are created in a format that works with our systems only. Those backups cannot be downloaded and stored locally.
What are personal backups and how long are they kept?
Personal Backups are an option in the Backups menu, that provides you with the opportunity to create backups before making changes on your website and restore those easily from the same menu if anything goes wrong.
The Personal Backups are kept for 24 hours and they take up your disk space.
