The most frequent questions we get when it comes to installed modules on our servers are about Imagick and WebP.
With this article, we want to clarify what we do and do not support and how this will affect your website.
Firstly, we do NOT currently have Imagick and WebP modules installed on our servers.
How does this affect your website?
Let’s start with Imagick.
The module is being used by several common plugins.
Therefore some of our customers mistakenly believe that if we do not support that module, then they can’t use those plugins – which is not true.
Instead of the Imagick library, we use the GD library which does the job pretty much as well as Imagick.
If you see a warning in any of your plugin settings/WP admin dashboard like “Warning The optional module, Imagick, is not installed, or has been disabled.” – do not worry, the GD module should work for you.
What about WebP?
At the time of writing here, WordPress does still NOT natively support WebP.
How does this potentially affect your website?
Currently, our servers can serve any .webp images without any issues, so if you have any files with .webp format, there is nothing to worry about.
