Do you need an additional user for your file management? In this article, we will show you how to add FTP users.
Step 1. Log in to your WPX account
You can log in to your WPX account here.
Step 2. Navigate to your hosting plan
You can either find your hosting service through the navigation menu or within your dashboard. Once you log in to your WPX account select My Services (1) → WordPress Hosting (2).
Then you will see all of your hosting services with us. When you find the plan that you want to manage, you need to select the orange button Manage service.
Step 3. Go to the FTP Users menu
Now that you’re in the Hosting Panel, select the FTP Users menu. In this section, you can oversee, manage, and add new FTP users to your WPX account.
Step 4. Add a new FTP user
Select the +Add FTP user button.
Make sure to fill in the required details to create your new FTP user.
The password for the FTP account can be one of your choosing or automatically generated. If you wish your password to be automatically generated, press the orange button Generate Password.
There’s an option to send the FTP user settings to a specific email address in case someone else needs that information as well.
In the gif above you can see that we are sending the details to a dev email address.
The FTP User that you have created, can be used for connecting via FTP and SFTP.
Each FTP user has access only to the website for which it was created. The access for the FTP users cannot be edited once created. If you want to give access to another domain or subfolder, please create a new FTP user.
Step 5. Change FTP user details
Select the Settings button next to the FTP user.
Select the option for changing the password (1) of the FTP user and add your new password. When you are done with the changes, save your new password and click the Submit (2) button.
That’s it! Your new FTP user has been created successfully!
