This article will help you install and configure an SMTP plugin that will handle the email sending process for your WordPress website when using Outlook.
Let’s get started.
Step 1. Install the SMTP plugin.
The plugin that will install and configure to work with our Outlook mail is Post SMTP Mailer.
The plugin can be found in the WordPress directory.
Or, inside WP Admin, you can go to Plugins (1) → Add New (2), and enter SMTP into the search bar (3), as shown in the screenshot below.
Click on the Install Now (4) button, to begin the installation of the plugin. When the installation is complete, click on the Activate button to activate the plugin for your website.

Step 2. Configure the SMTP plugin.
Click on the side menu for the settings of the plugin Post SMTP (1) and then select the Start the Wizard button (2).

Step 3. Fill in the Sender Details.
Fill in your Name (1) and Outlook mail (2), when you are ready click on the Next button (3) to continue with the configuration.

Step 4. Fill in the Outgoing Mail Server Hostname.
Fill in the Outlook outgoing server (1).
Usually, that would be smtp.office365.com (however if that doesn’t work you may need to check that in your Outlook account);
After you fill in the information, click the Next button (2).

Step 5. Connectivity test.
Select the SMTP – office365.com:587 (1) option and Password (2) as an authentication methoThenhen press the Next button (3).

Step 6. Authentication.
Fill in your Outlook mail and the password for it (1) and then click the Next button (2) to continue with the setup.

Step 7. Install extension for notifications (optional).
In this step, you have the option to download and install an extension that will notify you when the emails couldn’t be delivered. You can skip the step if you don’t need the extension by pressing directly on the Next button:

Step 8. Finish the setup wizard.
On the last step of the wizard, you just need to click on the Finish button.

Step 9. Check if the SMTP is set up correctly.
To check if the setup is successful, click on the Send test mail button:

Fill in the email address (1) to which you want to send the Test mail and then click on the Next button (2):

If the installation is successful, the test email should be sent. You can now select the Finish button.
