How can I install WordPress on my subfolder(subdirectory)?

Installing WordPress in a subfolder is very simple and can be done with just a few clicks. We have simplified the installation process for WordPress via our Hosting Panel. Let’s go!

Step 1. Log in to your WPX account.

You can log in to your WPX account here.

Step 2. Navigate to your hosting plan.

You can either find your hosting service through the navigation menu or within your dashboard. Once you log in to your WPX account select My Services (1) → WordPress Hosting (2).

Then you will see all of your hosting services with us. When you find the plan that you want to manage, you need to select the orange button Manage service.

Step 3. Go to the Manage Websites menu.

Now that you’re in the Hosting Panel, select the Manage Websites (1) menu. In this section, you can oversee, manage, and add new websites to your WPX account.

To install WordPress on a subfolder on one of your sites, click on the Manage WP (2) button on the right side of the website.

Step 4. Install WordPress.

Once you have clicked on the Manage WP button, a pop-up will appear. You can either install WordPress in the root directory of the website or a subfolder. The subfolder option is what you’re looking for.

You can have multiple WordPress installations in different sub-folders however, they will be sharing the resources allocated for the website they are under.

Another pop-up window will appear on your screen. Fill in the desired subfolder name (in our case, that’s shop), then enter the details you’d like to use to log in to that specific subfolder (wp-admin). Once you’re done, you get to select whether you’d like to use the W3 Total Cache plugin and the final step is pressing the Install WordPress button.

We recommend installing the W3 Total Cache plugin with our settings for better performance. You can read more about that in our article here. It is included by default with the installation of WordPress from the WPX Control panel.

Make sure you copy and save your password (you can use the button Copy Password for that). If you cannot come up with a password, our system can generate one for you, just use the Generate Password button.

When you add a website to your hosting plan and install WordPress, a database is automatically created and connected to the website.

That’s it! WordPress is now installed successfully on your subfolder!
