This article will showcase the different options for you to restore your live site after a merge is completed with a staging area. This option can be used if anything goes wrong after the merge, or if you want to revert the changes of the merge itself.
You can restore your live site from either a generated Personal Backup or Automatic Backup Point. Restoring the live site is an option often used after a staging merge is unsuccessful or your live site is not working properly afterward.
Step 1. Log in to your WPX account
You can log in to your WPX account here.
Step 2. Navigate to your hosting plan
You can either find your hosting service through the navigation menu or within your dashboard. Once you log in to your WPX account select My Services (1) → WordPress Hosting (2).
Then you will see all of your hosting services with us. When you find the plan that you want to manage, you need to select the orange button Manage service.
Step 3. Restore your Live Site from the Personal Backup
When merging your staging area with us, you will get an option to make a personal backup of your live site.
To do that, you would need to navigate to Manage Websites(1) and click the Merge To Live(2) button on the specific staging area you wish to sync with the live site:
You will get a pop-up box so you can confirm that you want to complete a merge between your staging site and live site:
Once confirmed you will get a small pop-up window with the option to back up your live site:
The option is enabled by default, however, if you decide to uncheck the option you will not get a backup of the current live site.
To restore your live website from the Personal Backup created before the merge process, you can check this article.
Step 4. Restore your Live Site from an Automatic Backup Point
To restore your website from the main Backup Points on the server, you can follow this guide.
