Is my Staging site cached and/or indexed?

The Staging website is a test version of your Live website created to fine-tune themes/templates, plugins, and layouts and the whole purpose of it is to be hidden from normal visitors who refer to your current live site.

Is my staging website using cache?

Your staging area will be a copy of your live site with its content, including any cache plugins that you may have installed during that time.

That means that the staging instance will use plugin-generated cache and server cache to function properly with the specific configuration you have duplicated.

Staging Areas however do not use WPX XDN cache since their purpose is to be a test environment and there is no point in linking it with further cache systems.

WPX XDN is disabled for staging areas to ease your work which would otherwise include regularly and manually clearing cache and constantly refreshing your browser when a new change is made or added.

Is my staging website being indexed?

The Staging Area will not be indexed by default, that would include search engines like google bots, bing bots, etc. on a server level.

Additionally, when creating the staging area, an option to discourage search engines on a WordPress level is enabled for the website automatically.
