My Site Has Been Hacked & Has Malware – What Now?

Ensuring that your site remains safe and secure is extremely important to us.

That’s why we guard your sites with enterprise-level DDoS protection, continuous malware scans, application firewalls, spam protection, and free WHOIS Privacy by default on domain purchases through WPX.

Apart from what we do at a server and network level, site security is also the responsibility of the site owner and that is why you should consider certain WordPress security plug-ins.

The Wordfence, Sucuri, and iThemes Security plugins are all possible options and these can also help to defend your website from potential threats.

These plugins are free and can be easily installed onto your WordPress website via the Plugins tab on your website’s WordPress Dashboard.

However, having weak passwords, no Captcha on your WP admin login page, as well as using pirated or outdated plugins will, of course, provide hackers with an easier entry point into your site.

Should you see that your WPX-hosted site has been hacked, please report it to WPX Support via live chat and they will look at backup restore options from before the successful hacking happened or escalate the case to our SecOps team who will remove any malware for you free – NOTE: there can be a big backlog of work for this team so please do not expect malware to be instantly removed.

If you get stuck with anything discussed here, please contact WPX Support via live chat (use the bottom right hand widget!) and they will usually respond and help within 30 seconds or less.
