What Are Recovery Codes and Why Do I Need Them? (2FA)

What are recovery codes?

When you set up a 2-Factor Authentication method on your WPX account,
your login process will consist of two steps. First, you input your login credentials, and after that, you use the 2FA method you’ve set up to authenticate yourself.

If you haven’t set up a 2FA method yet, you can do that by following this article here.

However, if for some reason you are unable to complete the 2FA method you will be locked out of your account. That’s where the recovery codes come into play. You can use the recovery codes to disable the 2FA option and access your account.

How do I use the recovery codes?

On the Two-Factor Authentication page you will find the “Use recovery code instead” option below, as shown here:

That will take you to a page where you’ll be able to input your credentials along with a recovery code and then disable the 2FA method:

How do I set up recovery codes?

During the 2-Factor Authentication setup process, you will be given 4 different recovery codes.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to save the recovery codes, as they won’t be available anywhere in your WPX Dashboard!

In case you are unable to complete the 2FA process and can’t provide a recovery code, you can contact our support for help on how to gain access to your account.

If you get stuck with anything discussed on this page, please get in touch with the WPX Support Team via live chat (use the bottom right-hand widget) and they will respond and help within 30 seconds or less.
