What is the name of the main folder for my website files?
Your main folder (root directory) for any website that is added to your WPX hosting panel is the folder where all of your internal files are located. The folder is named public_html. That is the root document folder for all of your files.
How can I upload files to public_html?
You can upload your files to the root folder by using our integrated File Manager or an FTP/SFTP connection with an FTP Client.
With those methods, you can upload for different purposes such as verification files for your website or custom files that you want to further develop your site with.
There are two types of directories depending on if you want to upload to your main domain or subdomains:
- One is for your Main website which is located in the discrete public_html directory;
- The rest are Sub-sites. The files of those sites are stored in the /domains directory. Each of them contains an individual public_html (root) directory used for storing your site’s files.
In the following screenshot, you can see how these folders are organized:
Where can I upload my images?
You can upload your images through the Media Editor in WordPress directly. That happens when you log in to your WordPress website.
After you log in to your site, you navigate through Media Library (1) and Add New (2) to select the image you want to upload:
As for the actual location of the images in your files, they are located in public_html/wp-content/uploads.
We recommend using File Manager as your main tool for uploading any kind of files to your public_html folder and the Media Library for images respectively. The folder itself contains core WordPress files such as wp-config.php and .htaccess which you can edit or create new ones like robots.txt for configuring a sitemap.
