Redis cache – Why does your website need it?

Not sure what Redis cache is?

In simple terms, Redis stands as a fast, in-memory data store that can significantly enhance the performance and responsiveness of your website.

Basically, Redis excels at providing fast read and write operations. It can efficiently cache database query results which greatly reduces the load on the server and overall query time while it increases the responsiveness of your website which is excellent for your WooCommerce cart full of products.

Our comprehensive tests have shown that, when Redis is enabled, the number of database queries is greatly reduced (up to a 400%) which is a significant improvement. This not only amplifies website performance but also ensures a smoother and more responsive user experience, aligning perfectly with our commitment to speed and performance.

Is it hard to install/enable Redis?

Quite the opposite actually, we have integrated it directly into our hosting panel, making the process straightforward. Therefore all you need to do is simply enable it with a couple of clicks, which we have an article on as well. Once that is done, it takes less than two minutes for it to start working.

Please keep in mind that in order to enable Redis on a website you need to have a WordPress installation on it.

I already have the WPX XDN enabled, should I use Redis as well?

Absolutely, while our WPX XDN is managing your static content, Redis on the other hand manages all the dynamic requests and they greatly complement each other.

Is Redis part of all WooCommerce plans?

Yes, Redis is part of all WooCommerce plans at WPX. It doesn’t matter if you have: Powerstore, Superstore, or Hyperstore, it is included in all of them, and it is included with the Custom Woocommerce plans as well.

Redis cache is exclusively included in our WooCommerce plans. If you’re using our WordPress plans, Redis cache won’t be available in the Control Panel.

Will Redis work with every kind of website?

Yes, it will, however the ones that will benefit the most from it are the WooCommerce websites like an online store that has more dynamic requests as your customers fill in their carts, change products, etc.

We also recommend using W3 Total Cache with our custom settings to improve your websites. The best part is that the simultaneous work of our XDN, Redis, and W3TC makes this the best trio out there.
