What can I do if my domain transfer has failed?

In this article, we will cover most common issues that you can encounter when transferring your domain to us.

If you have started your domain transfer to WPX but have not received any confirmation for it within 7 days, it may mean that it has failed. In most cases, we contact our clients when our Domain Registrar notifies us of failed transfers and we provide the reason and steps on how to restart the process.

If you notice something wrong beforehand with your domain transfer, you can contact us via LiveChat or support ticket through your WPX Account so that our support agents can check the case.

Transferring a domain to WPX is possible, as long as the domain itself is NOT a country code top-level domain (such as .uk, .co.uk, .it, .de, .com.au etc) as we no longer support these TLD extensions.

Providing wrong EPP code for domain transfer

One of the reasons your domain transfer can fail is due to an invalid EPP code. If this happens to your domain transfer, you will have to contact your domain registrar and require a new EPP code from them.

Keep in mind to carefully check your EPP code and to copy/paste it in order to avoid any spelling mistakes by hand that would hinder the transfer process.

If you cannot create your own EPP Code through your control panel, you should contact the registrar’s support to obtain a new one.

Once you have the new EPP code, you can reach our support on chat or ticket, with the new code, and they will help you to re-initiate the domain transfer process.

Re-initiating the domain transfer would start everything over and you will need to wait again with the regular timeline of 7 days to complete.

“Registrar Lock” status still active at current Domain Registrar

The reason for your domain to fail with “Registrar Lock” status, is because your domain is still locked at a domain registrar level.

In this case, you will have to unlock it from your domain registrar, where your domain is currently registered (e.g. Namecheap, Name.com, GoDaddy), or contact their support to assist you with that.

When you are sure that the domain is unlocked, contact the WPX Support Team to restart the transfer process.

Unverified WhoIs email address

When you register a domain with WPX or transfer a domain to us, you will receive a verification email. You should always check your Spam or Trash folder if the verification email has not yet appeared.

However, if you cannot find your verification email, please contact us, we will then resend the verification email so that you can verify your email address and activate your domain/s transfer.

More information on the topic can be found here.

Domain transfer rejected from current Domain Registrar

Sometimes your current Domain Registrar may reject the transfer.

In such cases, you need to reach out to their support team to find out more about the reason why they have rejected the transfer.

When you know what happened, you can contact the WPX Support Team so they can help you restart the transfer.

If you get stuck with anything discussed on this page, please contact WPX Support Team via live chat (use the bottom right-hand widget) and they will respond and help within 30 seconds or less.
